Who Is a Good Candidate for HA Filler Dissolving?
You may be an ideal candidate for HA filler dissolving with Hylenex if you:
- Have overfilled or “pillowy” areas in the lips, cheeks, under eyes, or jawline
- Experience filler migration, nodules, or lumps
- Notice asymmetry or unnatural results from previous injections
- Had a complication such as vascular occlusion or prolonged swelling
- Want to completely reverse Juvederm®, Restylane®, or other HA fillers before new treatment
This service is available to almost anyone in the Hudson Valley who has received hyaluronic acid-based fillers and wishes to have them safely removed.
Who May Not Be a Candidate for HA Filler Dissolving?
While HA filler dissolving is safe for most patients, it is not suitable for everyone. You may not be a candidate if:
- You have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to hyaluronidase (the active ingredient in Hylenex) or any of its components
- You have a history of severe allergic reactions to bee or wasp stings (possible cross-reactivity)
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have an active infection, inflammation, or open wounds at the treatment site
- Your fillers are not hyaluronic acid-based (e.g., Radiesse, Sculptra, or silicone fillers — these cannot be dissolved with Hylenex)
A thorough consultation and history review will determine if this treatment is right for you. In some cases, we may perform a small skin test to rule out allergies.
Why Choose HA Filler Dissolving with Hylenex?
The procedure is done to correct unwanted filler results and restore a natural, balanced appearance. Many patients from Newburgh and throughout the Hudson Valley seek this treatment for aesthetic refinement or to address complications.
Key benefits include:
- Fast results — often visible within hours, full effect in 24–48 hours
- Safe, targeted breakdown of only the HA filler
- Much quicker than waiting for fillers to dissolve naturally (6–24 months)
- Restores natural facial contours and harmony
- Creates a clean slate for future filler treatments
What to Expect During the HA Filler Dissolving Procedure
The treatment is quick, comfortable, and performed in our Newburgh office at Hudson Valley Beauty Lab and Medi Spa. After a detailed consultation, we apply numbing cream for comfort. Small, precise injections of Hylenex (recombinant hyaluronidase) are placed into the treatment areas.
Most patients feel only a brief pinch. You may notice softening right away, with continued improvement over the next day or two. Mild swelling or bruising is possible but usually resolves quickly. We provide personalized aftercare guidance to support optimal healing.
Why Ultrasound Guidance Is Essential
At Hudson Valley Beauty Lab and Medi Spa, we offer ultrasound-guided HA filler dissolving for superior precision and safety. Ultrasound allows us to:
- See exactly where the filler is located — even deep or migrated product
- Target Hylenex injections with pinpoint accuracy
- Avoid important structures and healthy tissue
- Use the minimal effective dose for better results and fewer side effects
This advanced technology sets our Newburgh practice apart and ensures the safest, most effective filler reversal in the Hudson Valley.
Corrective, Restorative & Your Clean Slate for Future Treatments
HA filler dissolving with Hylenex is both corrective and restorative. It gently removes unwanted or poorly placed filler, bringing back your natural facial contours and authentic appearance. Once the old product is fully dissolved, you start with a true “clean slate.”
This reset is ideal if you plan to have new HA filler treatments in the future. With a fresh foundation, your next injections can be performed with greater precision, delivering more natural, beautiful, and harmonious results.

Pre and Post-Injection Instructions
Pre-Care Instructions (Before Your Appointment)
To reduce the risk of bruising and optimize safety:
-
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 5–7 days prior (unless prescribed by your doctor): Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin), naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, garlic supplements, and other NSAIDs.
- Avoid alcohol for at least 24–48 hours before treatment.
- Optional but recommended: Start Arnica Montana tablets (or topical Arnica) 2–3 days before your appointment to help prevent bruising.
- Inform us of any allergies, especially to bee or wasp stings, animal proteins, or previous reactions to hyaluronidase.
- Do not schedule if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an active infection or cold sore in the treatment area.
- Arrive with a clean face — no makeup, lotions, or skincare products on the treatment area.
- Stay well hydrated and get a good night’s sleep the day before.
Post-Care Instructions (After Hylenex Treatment)
- First 24 hours:
- Avoid touching, rubbing, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated areas.
- Do not apply makeup to the treated areas.
- Apply cold compresses (wrapped ice pack, 10–15 minutes on / 10–15 minutes off) to reduce swelling and bruising.
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated.
- First 48 hours:
- Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, saunas, hot tubs, or activities that cause excessive sweating or facial flushing.
- Avoid alcohol and continue avoiding blood thinners (unless medically necessary).
- Stay hydrated and use gentle cleansing with mild products only.
- For 1–2 weeks:
- Avoid facial massages, microneedling, lasers, radiofrequency treatments, or aggressive skincare (retinoids, acids, etc.) in the treated area.
- Protect your skin with SPF 30+ and avoid direct sun exposure.
- Do not receive new HA filler injections in the same area for at least 2 weeks (we recommend waiting until full dissolution and reassessment).
What to Expect:
-
- Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising is common and usually resolves within a few days.
- Results (softening/dissolution) often begin within hours and continue improving over 24–72 hours. Multiple sessions may be needed for complete dissolution.
- You may experience a temporary reduction in natural volume as the enzyme also affects your body’s own hyaluronic acid (this rebounds naturally within days to weeks).
