We chose not one, but TWO lines because we were blown away by a handful of products from both. So, we decided to invest in partnership with the two of them. Skin Better Science has remarkable corrective and restorative options (Nurse Randi’s favorite) and IS Clinical has phenomenal cleansing, hydrating, and protective options!
Pharmaceutical Grade Vs. OTC (Over the Counter)
Diana and I are advocates for pharm-grade skin care. If you were to open our bathroom vanity cabinet, you’d see an extensive selection of products that we have fallen in love with over the years!
One thing we both have noticed with the majority of our clients is their lack of knowledge on proper skin care routines and products that support their skin concerns. In addition, a lot of clients purchase skin care products via social media influencers who DO NOT specialize in skin care at all! *sigh* So we’re on a mission, through our blog, to simplify the education piece and provide the best products for our clients!
Pharmaceutical grade skin care is not necessarily more expensive if you take into account the speed of results and the effectiveness. How many times have you purchased ‘x,y,z’ only to be disappointed with little to no results, resulting in your hard earned money either sitting in the cabinet or being thrown into the trash. Trust me, we’ve been down that road before too. But here are the FACTS:

The BEST products have the BEST ingredients and if you’re over the age of 25, it is highly recommended that you invest in skincare that will pay off in the long run; such as vit c serums, retinols, and MOST importantly, spf.

There is not a ‘one size fits all’ cocktail. Joining forces with a skin specialist is KEY to achieving the best skin possible.
I’ve been a nurse for almost 8 years, but sadly that did not qualify me in recommending skincare products for myself or anyone else.
It wasn’t until I delved my way deep into the industry of medical aesthetics, studied extensively on how and why products/ingredients work, and the science behind them, did I really feel confident to know how to safely treat my clients.
Here’s what I’ve learned on why pharmaceutical grade skin care products are unique and unmatched:

Better Quality Ingredients. Pharmaceutical grade products are required to contain 99% pure ingredients whereas OTC (over the counter) products like Sephora, Ulta, Amazon, just to name a few, are not held to the same standards and the majority contain nasty fillers despite their marketing label.

Higher Concentration of Active Ingredients. Okay, so your OTC product claims to have vitamin c, but how much is pure? And to top it off, some ingredients, such as vitamin c, are not stable and must be formulated and packaged so it remains effective, safe, and non-imitating! Retinoids/Retinols, vit a, vit c, and hydroquinone are only a few examples of ingredients that are claimed to be inside of otc products but at such low dosages, they’re basically non effective, or worse, detrimental to your skin. (I.e- breaking out or getting really irritated skin after using said product)

Delivery to Deep Skin Layers. OTC products only work on the outermost layers of your skin, called epidermis. They sit on the surface and barely make a dent into the problem you’re trying to solve.
Pharmaceutical grade products are formulated to be delivered deep into the dermis. This is where the collagen scaffold and collagen stimulating cells are housed and if you’d like to see real changes then your products must be delivered there.
